Principal Communications, 17 April 2023

Dear Parents and Carers

It makes me happy to see and hear our students on campus after a lovely two week break. This morning at the Springwood campus and then later in the day at Carbrook, seeing the joy and energy of our students as they return for a very full term two is exciting.

I am also pleased to see several developments to our facilities as we complete and progress projects to support the delivery of our curricular and co-curricular programs. Possibly the most visible and impressive changes have been to the farm at Carbrook where we have installed motorised doors rather than the old ones that had to be lifted manually by hauling chains! We have also almost completed the construction of an office for our farm staff and made the shed a far safer work environment by installing stairs to the mezzanine level. We hope to have this work completed soon so that we can restore the learning space for students in the shed itself.

CAPA staff have also been busy working with students on the preparation of the Musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Tickets are available for purchase from today. From what I have seen and heard so far, this is not to be missed and I would encourage you to secure your tickets right away. It is always lovely to see students support their friends by coming to these special events.

This week we have students competing in Futsal and Cross Country events.  We wish them success and fun as they pursue their particular talents and interests.

I am very sad to inform you that Rebekah Kemp (Learning Development Coordinator in Stages 5 and 6 and MSS psychology teacher) will leave us at the end of this term. The family is relocating many hours north of us. The children have been at Calvary for the duration of their schooling and Rebekah is herself a former student. We will miss them all, and we wish them well in their new adventure. I am very appreciative of the work Rebekah has done over the past few years in her partnership with parents, students and staff as we seek to work together to ensure every child has an education worth having. There will be an opportunity later in the term to farewell the Kemp family.

To help you plan for next year, we have uploaded term dates to the College website.

We look forward to this term seeing growth in our students and ourselves, learning new things and enjoying our community life together. I hope you will join us at every opportunity.  I look forward to seeing you on campus.

Yours sincerely
