KEY EVENTS THIS TERM
9 Sept - Showcase Concert

Dear Parents and Carers

It has been a busy few weeks at Calvary as we get closer to the end of term. There is a lot of information in this communication, and I would encourage parents to particularly pay attention to the section related to the last day of term. We would love to see you at our Year 12 drama presentation on Friday night and if you haven’t grabbed your showcase tickets yet, I would encourage you to do so soon, because it will be a great night!

Head of Middle & Senior School & Innovative Learning Design

Year 12 Production

Do you think you have what it takes to survive a zombie apocalypse? Well never fear, the Year 12 graduating class is here to give you ten helpful (and if we're honest, some not so helpful) tips for your survival. Come see this hilarious performance of Don Zolidis' 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse, for one night only Friday 8th September, 7pm-8pm. Drinks and food available for purchase before performance and during intermission. Admission is free with an optional donation through the Trybooking link below:

Showcase

There are a large number of students across the college enjoying the CAPA (Performing Arts) program. Showcase is an event where you will see students’ individual instrumental performances, as well as ensembles, orchestral and dance performances. Come along and enjoy a musical trip around the globe as they perform pieces from all different countries. Showcase rehearsal is next Thursday 7 September in preparation for the Saturday 9 September Evening event.

Year 9 Chinchilla Trip

Next week, our Year 9 students, along with several dedicated staff members, will embark on an enriching journey to Chinchilla for a service trip. Our collective hope and prayer are for their safe return, accompanied by the profound joy that comes from selfless service to others. They will be donating our hygiene products from the supportive Calvary Community to Drought Angels and providing some much-needed assistance to farmers, communities and organisations in the area.

Group Photo Days

On the 4th and 5th of October the College will be taking group photos for those that are involved in various clubs, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The schedule for this will be published in next week's parent communications, but we ask parents to please take note of this date as these photos form a vital part of a student's school record and we are unable to photograph students that are not present on the day.

LAST DAY OF TERM INFORMATION – PLEASE READ

On the last day of term, we will celebrate "Exo Day" an event partly led by our students. This day serves as an opportunity to celebrate the excellence of life and recognize the uniqueness of each individual, created in the image of God. This will involve a range of activities a chapel service, games, multicultural events concluding with an active afternoon and a voluntary colour fun run.

Please note that students are encouraged to come dressed in Free Dress on the last day of term please adhere to the following free dress guidelines:

  • Shorts should reach to just above the knees and cannot be shorter than mid-thigh.
  • Students may not colour their hair except as in the Uniform Policy.
  • Students may not wear make-up .
  • Stomach regions should not be exposed.
  • Students should wear a t-shirt or equivalent. No bare midriffs, low necklines, singlets or strappy tops.
  • Practical closed shoes to be worn that do not impede the ability of students to participate in class or scheduled activities.
  • Students must wear respectable tops (clothing that has negative slogans or images will not be permitted)

Subway/Sushi Meal Deal

We are inviting all students that wish to order Subway/Sushi for delivery to the College on the 15 September 2023 to use the link below or scan the QR code on the flyer that was sent home with your child. This is a great way for our students to celebrate the end of the school term with some delicious food. Please note that all orders must be completed online before 9am on the 12 September 2023. Click on the button below to place your order.

Multicultural Celebration

As part of our desire to celebrate our uniqueness, students and staff members will share insightful presentations about their own cultural backgrounds. We will also engage in various cultural games such as "Edor", "Bocce" and more.  To add some spice to the day, we have even planned a chili or spicy food eating contest and for $5 students can buy 3 taste testers of cuisine from different parts of the world. It's a wonderful opportunity for us all to embrace the rich diversity within our school community.

Important Note about Colour Run Participation

For students planning to participate in the colour run, please ensure that they wear a white T-shirt. We also strongly recommend that they come prepared with sunglasses or goggles, as well as a bandana to cover their mouths and noses during the colour zones for added protection. Please be aware that students not wearing a white T-shirt will be directed to an alternative event, ensuring their safety and enjoyment throughout the active afternoon
