Term 3 - Week 10

OUTLINE OF TERM 4 WEEK 1

Monday 2 October:  King's Birthday Public Holiday
Tuesday 3 October:  First Day of Term 4

Wednesday 4 October: Group Photo Day
Thursday 5 October: Group Photo Day

Dear Parents and Carers

It has been a very busy and event-packed term. I had the great joy last week of watching our Wakikirri dance group at the state finals, the Year 12 students’ dramatic rendition of 10 Ways to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse, and the annual Showcase event. It was wonderful to see the burgeoning talent of our students and I am so excited about the promise of the future as our CAPA program continues to thrive.

As we head into next term, our Year 12 students will be back for two weeks before they head into Study Leave and start their ATAR examinations – please keep them in your prayers across the term. Our Year 11 and Year 10 students will start their Stage 6 studies by mid term and shortly after that our Year 11s will be off to their week long leadership camp at Emu Gully and our Year 10 students will enjoy a week of work experience at a place of their choice.

I would like to wish all our students and their families a blessed and peaceful mid-term break. I hope families get a chance to spend some time together. See you next term!

Mr Josh Wilson
Head of Middle & Senior School & Innovative Learning Design

General Notices:

Group Photo Days

On the 4th and 5th of October the College will be taking group photos for those that are involved in various clubs, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The schedule for this will be published in next week's parent communications, but we ask parents to please take note of this date as these photos form a vital part of a student's school record and we are unable to photograph students that are not present on the day.

LAST DAY OF TERM INFORMATION – PLEASE READ

On the last day of term, we will celebrate "Exo Day" an event partly led by our students. This day serves as an opportunity to celebrate the excellence of life and recognize the uniqueness of each individual, created in the image of God. This will involve a range of activities a chapel service, games, multicultural events concluding with an active afternoon and a voluntary colour fun run.

Please note that students are encouraged to come dressed in Free Dress on the last day of term please adhere to the following free dress guidelines:

  • Shorts should reach to just above the knees and cannot be shorter than mid-thigh.
  • Students may not colour their hair except as in the Uniform Policy.
  • Students may not wear make-up .
  • Stomach regions should not be exposed.
  • Students should wear a t-shirt or equivalent. No bare midriffs, low necklines, singlets or strappy tops.
  • Practical closed shoes to be worn that do not impede the ability of students to participate in class or scheduled activities.
  • Students must wear respectable tops (clothing that has negative slogans or images will not be permitted)

Please note that students arriving inappropriately dressed will be asked to wait at the main reception to either be taken home or have appropriate clothes delivered.

Multicultural Celebration

As part of our desire to celebrate our uniqueness, students and staff members will share insightful presentations about their own cultural backgrounds. We will also engage in various cultural games such as "Edor", "Bocce" and more.  To add some spice to the day, we have even planned a chili or spicy food eating contest and for $5 students can buy 3 taste testers of cuisine from different parts of the world. It's a wonderful opportunity for us all to embrace the rich diversity within our school community.

Important Note about Colour Run Participation

For students planning to participate in the colour run, please ensure that they wear a white T-shirt. We also strongly recommend that they come prepared with sunglasses or goggles, as well as a bandana to cover their mouths and noses during the colour zones for added protection. Please be aware that students not wearing a white T-shirt will be directed to an alternative event, ensuring their safety and enjoyment throughout the active afternoon
