Dear Parents and Carers,

Pre-Prep Visits

Mrs O’Donnell and I have had the privilege of connecting with local childcare centres that are feeders to our Calvary Junior School. During our presentations and visits, we have been sharing the mission and vision of Calvary with the staff and parents. What excites me is the desire and thirst from parents for a model of education that encompasses the whole child.

Parents are looking for what Calvary offers. A place that not only teaches curriculum content but focuses on skills that will set children up for life-long success. They are also looking for a school that aligns with their values. At Calvary, we want to ensure our students leave us with strong values and a faith for the future.

Below is a quote from a book I am currently reading -

“There is little point in business and industry’s demanding people with knowledge and skills from schools, if graduates lack integrity, are closed-minded, lack judgment, are not prepared to take risks intellectually, and have little self-understanding”. (Socektt, 2012)

This is why the Calvary Learning Habits that are explicitly taught are so very important.

Showcase

There are a large number of students across the College enjoying the CAPA (Performing Arts) program. Showcase is an event where you will see individual student instrumental performances, as well as ensembles, orchestral and dance performances. Come along and enjoy a musical trip around the globe as they perform pieces from all different countries. Showcase rehearsal is next Thursday for the Saturday 9 September event. There are a number of Carbrook students involved and we can’t wait to see them showcase their talents.

Stage 2 Expo

We are very excited to have our Stage 2 Art and Poetry Expo in Week 10. Our students will be displaying Art and Poetry around inclusivity of God’s unique design. We warmly welcome families and friends on Wednesday 13 September from 2.30pm-3.30pm in the Stage 2 learning space.

Uniforms

Please ensure all uniforms are clearly labelled with your child’s name. There is an excessive amount of uniforms in lost property. If you are missing any items please take a look through the lost property which you can locate in the Stage 3 area.

Pupil Free Day

Tomorrow is a Pupil Free Day for the students. Our teachers will be engaging in a day of Professional Development and planning for Term 4. We hope the students enjoy their long weekend and rest up as we head into the last 2 weeks of Term 3.

Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to all our dads and father figures! I hope you get to enjoy a great weekend!

Thank you again for partnering with us on your child’s learning journey.

Hygiene Product Collection

The Year 9 students are travelling to Chinchilla in the last week of school this term to be of service to the Chinchilla community and present our Hygiene Product collections to Drought Angels. Drought Angels will use these donations to create care packages for farmers that are hard at work producing food for us and may not have the time or resources to care for themselves. Year 9 students will visit Form classes regularly to collect the donations that will "Help us Help the Farmer that Feed Us". We ask that all Hygiene products (as listed on the poster) are sent to school by Friday 8 September 2023 to be able to be packed and sent with our Y9 students.
