Dear Parents and Carers

NAPLAN

Our year 3 and 5 students sat NAPLAN tests on Wednesday and Thursday this week, with their last test planned for Monday. Whilst the NAPLAN testing model feels a little different to our approach to education, our students were able to engage and give their best across each of the tests. Our wellbeing team has worked with our students about processing various feelings that may arise during testing and will be celebrating with them by sharing donuts next week, in reference to “do nut” worry about the test which was a part of their workshop with the students.

Gala Sport

Tomorrow, our Stage 3 students will participate in the first of 10 gala sport days for the year. This semester, we have netball and soccer teams working together to represent Calvary in an inter-school competition. This gives our students an opportunity to grow their team-work, communication and resilience and is a valued part of our sport program.

Stage 3 parents- please ensure you have accepted, send them in their full sports uniform (no house shirt) and pack a full lunch for the day, there is no tuckshop for offsite sports.

Stage 1-3 Cross Country

Next Wednesday is our annual Stage 1-3 cross country. Parents, friends, family and loved ones are all warmly invited to come along and cheer on our students. Please see the attached letter for details.

Year 7 Tour

Whether Year 7 is just around the corner for your child or a few years away, it is good to be equipped with knowledge and a visual of how Middle School works. The next tour of Carbrook’s Middle and Senior school is being held on Wednesday 20 March at 5.30pm. Spend time with key staff who lead the College and co-curricular areas, while being shown around campus.

Year 6 Canberra Trip

The Year 6 camp is fast approaching. We run a zoom information event for parents and students of Year 6. This will be held on 19 March from 7pm. Access via a link will be emailed to all Year 6 parents along with the camp booklet. As this adventure takes our students inter-state, this is an information session we do not want any parent or student to miss out on. We will record the session and email it afterwards.

Chapel

Please note: Due to NAPLAN and Gala Sport this week we will not have a full Chapel, Chapel will be run in each Stage.

Staff Update

Our Music Teacher, Vicky Feilla, will be on leave for Term 2.  We’re happy to inform you that Kerryn Vezos will be extending her time with us in Vicky’s absence.

Yours sincerely
