Carbrook Junior School Communications, 09 January 2024

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to the new year. I hope that you have enjoyed some precious family time and a relaxing break over the holidays. I was able to take some time to explore Bali with my family, this was such a special time where I was reminded of the natural awe and wonder that my (and your) children view the world with.

We are looking forward to meeting our new families coming into Prep and all other Stages this year. As we get our rhythm going for 2024, I’m certain our new families will feel the love and support this beautiful community offers.

In this communication, you will find information on our building projects over the holidays, the layout of our stages and allocated staff, as well as important dates coming up as we begin the new school year. Letters of introduction to you and your child from their class teacher will be emailed out tomorrow.

We welcome back Roxy Eksteen and Samantha Biermann who are returning from maternity leave.

We are excited to welcome our new staff members; Anel Loubser, Nadene Zulch, Laura Castle and Katrina Muller. All of our new staff members may be familiar faces, as they are connected to the College as parents or returning staff members.

Uniforms:

If you have been purchasing uniform items at School Locker, we are aware that some of our new items are not yet in stock. Please remember that the first week of term is sports uniform only, there have been no changes to this uniform. We are working with School Locker to improve the service available to you.

Across the whole school, we ask that all students wear their sports uniform for week 1.

Please see the link from our College website with uniform requirements:

A few projects have been on the go over the holiday break. The first thing you may notice is the new entrance and progress of the Culbert project. The Culbert will soon be ready for our stage 4 students, with 6 new learning areas and many outdoor areas that the students will make use of.

Prep play area has been upgraded, there is a new mini multipurpose area where our Prep and Stage 1 students will be able to play a range of sports.

Our website has a Parent Information page that holds all the details you may need to get settled into the year. Booklists and other information can be found there as well, use this link: https://www.calvarycc.qld.edu.au/parent-information/

Parent Information Evening:

Thursday 1 February, we invite all our parents, particularly those new to our school, to our Junior School Parent Information evening. This is where we share about whole school initiatives and classroom / stage -specific routines and upcoming events. The evening begins at 6:00pm and classroom sessions will be held back to back from 6:45pm so parents can attend multiple sessions if they choose.

It’s exciting to welcome a number of new families into our community. We look forward to being able to get to know you more as the year unfolds at our community events.

Enjoy the final weeks before school begins, and we will see you at Book Drop Off morning on Friday 19 January.

Yours sincerely
