The Calvary Christian College community is made of many nationalities. We have teaching, support staff and families who have migrated from countries such as New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Spain, England, Phillipines, Korea, China, Japan and even a family from Barbados in the Caribbean.
Migrating to a foreign country can be a daunting task but many of our families have made this transition with relative ease. The vibrant community and wonderful parents and friends committees make all new families feel very welcome. Our caring Calvary teachers inspire our students while our supportive chaplains get alongside new students to ensure they settle in quickly. The Middle and Senior students also help in mentoring junior and new students. This helps to build friendships through a buddy system and ensures everyone feels like they belong to the larger College community.
If you are considering emigrating, the following information will give you a synopsis into our surrounding areas:
Calvary is a dual campus, independent Christian College catering for over 1150 students from Prep to Year Twelve. Even though we have two campuses we are one College. The campuses are approximately 15 minutes drive apart but form part of the same catchment area. The College is in the Logan City metropolitan area. The Carbrook campus is 36km from Brisbane's CBD and is an average 28 minute commute. The Springwood campus is closer to the CBD and an average one-way commute would take you 16 minutes to drive, out of peak traffic time.
The suburbs within a close proximity to the College offer a range of house prices. In the Redland Bay area (to the east of the College) the average 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 10 year old home median house price is approximately $470,000 and the median rental price is $475 per week. While the cost of the average 4 bedroom home in Springwood is approximately $420,000 and the median rental price is $420 - $450 per week.
Both campuses are surrounded by natural bushland or rural settings giving the College a city and country feeling while still being within an half an hours drive to Brisbane or 45 minutes to the Gold Coast.
Excellent shopping can be experienced at the Hyperdome which is located next to the M1 in Loganholme. This shopping and entertainment complex appeals to the whole family by offering a comprehensive shopping, restaurant, dining and family fun experience in a relaxed environment.
The College is associated with Logan Uniting Church, however there are a variety of other churches in surrounding suburbs.
